How To Get Ready For Your Corporate Video
At RaffertyWeiss Media, we make the process of creating corporate video as easy as possible for our clients. We take care of video production every step of the way, including distribution if needed, but there are some things we need from our clients in preparation to produce the best video possible.
Once we’ve prepared the video script, you will determine who needs to be featured in the video. Some parts will be speaking while others will be non-speaking. The script will also include locations which might be the interior and exterior of your office and places relating to your business.
The Right People For The Job
Choosing the right people to feature in your corporate video is important and needs to be decided on with some thought and planning. For small businesses, having the owner or manager speak is probably essential, but there might be options in larger companies. Start by asking your key staff who would like to be involved. Someone willing and confident will usually come across well in video. While public speaking is part of normal work in the corporate world, not everyone loves being on camera.
This is also a chance to show diversity within your company, so if you need to show people working in group situations and interacting with clients, choose a mix of male and female employees of different ethnic backgrounds and ages if possible.
Think about the written content that might go with the video. For example, if the video included your longest-standing employee alongside the newest team member, it could make a warm human-interest story.
“You wouldn’t know George has been with the company for 20 years and Lisa was on her first week of work with us because we always work closely as a team. You can see them in our latest corporate video that we shot recently to announce our launch of an exciting new product.”
An impactful story that makes the audience want to click to see your team and find out what the exciting new product is about!
Making The Location Look Perfect
We like locations to look clean, bright, and minimalistic, putting the focus on the person delivering the message. It also means the corporate video won’t date as quickly.
Remove any unnecessary items from the shoot location, including books, papers, office supplies and personal items. Please clean all surfaces, including desktops, windows, and floors. Take away any signs and distracting objects. Now we have this modern canvas, we can easily add back some items if needed. Plants or a vase of fresh flowers might be appropriate.
Natural light is also great, so we will be opening any curtains and turning off any lighting that isn’t flattering. If we are shooting outside, make sure the garden areas are well-maintained and free of any garbage or unsightly objects. Doing all this in advance of taping will save a lot of time on the day of shooting.
First, take your time to choose the right people to feature in the video. Then prep your location so it shines, and we’ll take care of the rest!
